While Apple may be working on their next mobile operating system, tech designers elsewhere are being creative and developing their own concepts. WithiOS 7 likely to be out with the next Apple smartphone, designer F. Bianco provided several concept images of what the next mobile platform could look like if Apple experimented with some features. The concept features unique usage of widgets, app switching, iTunes control, and more.
A video was provided to the song "Seven Nation Army" by the band The White Stripes. The video features how the concepts would work on both iPhone and iPad devices.
Bianco's concept follows another by Australian web and software designer Jesse Head.
"Why'd I make it? Well one: because they're fun to do; and two: because every second day you'll hear someone whine about the lack of 'actual multitasking' in iOS, yet most app switching concepts don't actually attempt to address this complaint," wrote Head in his blog.
The concepts flow in as John Gruber, credited to be well connected with Apple's ongoings and runs the blog "Daring Fireball," said the Cupertino company's Senior Vice President of Industrial Design and new head of Human Interface Jonathon Ive made significant visual changes for iOS 7.
The blogger noted iOS 7 is "running behind" in schedule. In fact, engineers assigned to Mac OS X 10.9 have been pulled into working on the mobile platform instead.

Professional networking site LinkedIn has upgraded its mobile app for the Android and the iOS platforms. Although we don't write about every app update, this one is one of the biggest revamps since the apps first came out. According to the company, the new mobile phone experience (one can access it via mobile apps and mobile web browsers) makes it easier for members to get the most relevant and timely professional insights, and offers personalised navigation pages for professionals to customise their LinkedIn mobile experience.
Additionally, to take advantage of the traffic that the company is getting via mobile, LinkedIn is also adding ads (in the form of sponsored content in the user’s stream) to the apps, according to TechCrunch. The company already offers sponsored content on LinkedIn’s Desktop and iPad versions.
Richer & more visual stream
The apps display the most relevant professional insights into the users’ stream so that they can quickly discover and engage with all the professional conversations taking place across LinkedIn. This means a more engaging and visual stream with tailored updates, news, original posts from Influencers and more.
Personalised navigation page
You can now customise (like adding shortcuts for favourite tools) your LinkedIn mobile experience with a brand new personalised navigation page that offers better options than before. You can simply slide the main homepage screen to the right to find a customisable navigation page, preloaded with features that one may find handy while on the go.
Engage in professional conversations
The new apps also offer easier ways to join and engage in professional conversations by liking and commenting, without leaving the update stream. Also, considering that 64 per cent of LinkedIn members are located outside the US, the company has expanded its language offerings by adding Dutch and Norwegian for the iPhone app, and Turkish, Dutch and Norwegian for the Android one. This brings the total number of available languages for mobile to 15.
“We have completely revamped the mobile phone experience with the general professional and everyday use case in mind. There is much more in store for mobile this year, including more search and personalisation updates,” wrote Tomer Cohen, product lead (mobile) at LinkedIn, in an official blog post.
Our mobile audience has greatly evolved over the past year. Today, our mobile professionals span across the globe and represent a broad spectrum, from executives to young professionals and from road warriors to desk ninjas. The typical workday has also extended beyond the traditional 9-to-5 as professionals are continuously looking to gain advantage and stay one step ahead, every day.
Today, we’re excited to unveil a brand new mobile phone experience, completely revamped with the general professional and everyday use case in mind. We want to make it easier for our members to quickly discover and engage with the rich professional insights being shared across LinkedIn to help them make smarter decisions from wherever they may be working. We’ve designed the new LinkedIn mobile phone app for every professional, with a richer and more engaging stream and more personalization features.
Beautiful design
We’ve completely redesigned the mobile phone experience from front to back to create more delightful interactions throughout the app.
Richer stream front and center
We’re surfacing up the most relevant and timely professional insights in your stream so you can quickly discover and engage with all of the great professional conversations taking place across LinkedIn. This means an engaging, vibrant and visual stream with tailored updates, news, original posts from Influencers and much more. Joining the conversation is now even easier with liking and commenting available directly in your stream.
Tailored to what matters most to you
The LinkedIn experience has always been tailored to who you are, your network and and your professional connections. The new mobile phone experience now offers even deeper personalization options with a brand new navigation page. Slide the main homepage screen to the right to reveal a customizable navigation page, preloaded with the features you find handiest on-the-go.
Further expanding on localization
With 64% of LinkedIn members now located outside of the United States, we’ve really focused the new experience on the general professional and everyday use case. We’ve also expanded our language offerings with the addition of Dutch and Norwegian for iPhone, and Turkish, Dutch and Norwegian for Android. This brings the total count to 15 available languages for both apps, including Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malaysia, English, German, Spanish, French, Korean, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Swedish, Chinese (Traditional, Simplified), Turkish, Dutch and Norwegian.
There is much more in store for mobile this year, including more search and personalization updates. In the meantime, download the new mobile phone app for iPhone or Android and tell us your LinkedIn mobile story via our LinkedIn Company Page or on Twitter with #limobile. We’d love to hear how you're using LinkedIn mobile. Your story could even be featured in future blog posts! (source by : Linkedin )
